About Me

Hi, my name is Isaac Cortez. I am an African American male who currently studies at San Diego State University(SDSU). When I was a little kid, I was adopted by a Hispanic family, and to many, I am kind of an anomaly. As I grew up in a very redneck area while being black and being raised by hispanics many people thought it was odd, especially the kids, as it surprised them when I got picked up by my parents or when I spoke Spanish. Which caused me to stay to myself a lot more than others as a kid.Which led myinterests stray in a lot of different directions as I grew up in a very diverse environment. Since I grew up and still currently reside in lakeside california stayed in the same home my whole life, the community over here at the time was primarily white, so I looked very out of place being one of the only black kids in my elementary school, and because of my appearance, many assumptions have been made about me, not always good so i alwyas felt like a black sheep in the world but it wasnt all bad as it has helped me build my character and make new friends with different culture, so I had many interests as a kid, from video games, sports, and even art primarily the stuff I was able to do alone as making freiends was not always a garentee. But as I've gotten older, they have changed for the most part. I still play video games, as they were a big part of my life, which is most likely what caused me to spark an interest in becoming a mechanical engineer, which is I am currently studying at SDSUmaking this

my second semester in college. My love for playing video games, more focused on the problem-solving aspect, inspired me to pursue engineering, as that's basically all you d:o: fix problems, which I think is awsome and they pay good so I want that bread. I do have the ultimate goal to graduate with my master's, just to flex on my siblings, but also to prove to myself there is more to me if I actually try, which so far I've found pretty fun. I've met a lot of new people and learned a lot of new things. At SDSU, I haven't really tried to take part in any groups or anything special, as I'm just focused on my work and my job. School never really was a big interest to me, as I graduated high school with a 4.0 gpa becasue the last semester of senior year, I just didn't feel like showing up, so it dropped to that, and I got accepted to SDSU because my mom made me apply. I was more focused on sports as I was top ranked top 10 in SD for track in feild. But that's all in the past now, I just want to focus on my future and just make myself proud by making it big in the world..
